FCTA Pledges Improved Technology to Farmers

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has promised to provide information and guides on modern agricultural practices that would improve agricultural productivity of farmers in Abuja.
The FCT Minister of State, Mrs Olajumoke Akinjide, made the pledge in Kuje recently at the kick-off ceremony of the FCT 2014 Growth Enhancement Support Scheme (GES-TAP) for rain-fed farming season. She said that the administration has invested funds in training of its extension workers and in providing essential farm support services.
“I am pleased to note that since the commencement of the programme in 2012, more farmers are now accessing essential farm inputs with its attendant increased production in the territory,” she said. “Over 92, 000 farmers benefited from the GES during the 2013 rain-fed farming season and hopefully with the new arrangement, more will have access to varieties of farm input this season.”
The minister added that the administration recently entered into partnership agreement with a private sector to develop a multi-million abattoir in Tugan Maje.
