FG Establishes Trauma Centre in Abuja

The Federal Government yesterday inaugurated the first National Trauma Centre at the National Hospital, Abuja, to cater for severely injured patients.

Speaking at the inauguration, President Goodluck Jonathan, represented by Vice President Namadi Sambo, reiterated the commitment of his administration to providing world-class health care services to Nigerians.

“Providing modern health care infrastructure such as this Trauma Centre and others is a cardinal objective of our Transformation Agenda, as prioritised under the National Strategic Health Development Plan,” he said.

Also speaking, the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, noted that the trauma centre was one of the projects under the Federal Government’s strategic plan aimed at providing efficient and affordable healthcare services to Nigerians.

He said the centre would handle all forms of trauma, ranging from falls, fires, accidents, to natural or man-made disasters, and terrorist activities.
