FCT Minister Promises to Pay Workers’ Arrears

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sen. Bala Mohammed, has pledged to resolve issues leading to the non-payment of salaries of the staff of the FCT administration.

The minister made the promise in Abuja yesterday while addressing aggrieved FCTA workers who had embarked on a protest demanding the sack of the minister over the late October salary and delay in workers’ promotions.

The minister explained that the FCTA, which had over 28,000 personnel, pays about N3.6 billion monthly as workers’ salaries. The staff strength and huge wage bill, he said, prompted the decision of his administration to start a biometric exercise in order to identify ghost workers.

“The FCTA wants to ensure that every dime spent is well spent with commensurate value,” he said.
