Fire Razes Kuje Market

Property worth over N50 million was destroyed on Sunday in a fire outbreak at the Kuje main market in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Shaban Ishaku Tete, made this known to newsmen as they walked around the market. He expressed sadness over the incidence, adding however, that no life was lost in the inferno.
The chairman appealed to the affected traders to remain calm as the council was working with the FCT administration to work out their compensation. He stated further that plans were ongoing to decongest the market to forestall a recurrence of such incidences.

Meanwhile, Inspector Ubong Attah of the Kuje Fire Service Division attributed the fire to an electric spark in one of the shops. He cautioned traders to switch off the electricity before locking up their shops.
