N40 billion for NASS Renovation

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N40 billion for the construction and renovation of the National Assembly complex.
 
FCT Minister Sen. Bala Muhammed, told newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday that the renovation of two chambers of the National Assembly will take over three years to complete.

"We are going to close down the two chambers of the National Assembly for a period of 12 months, and we are lucky we have already provided large committee rooms that will be used during the period for the parliament to continue its work."

The minister said a library, budget office, printing press, clinic, restaurants, banquet hall, places of worship and an auditorium will be built as part of Phase three of the building project, and eventually television/radio/press facilities, fitness room, administrative offices, technical rooms, and meeting rooms would be made available and two chambers renovated.
