The
department Development Control of Federal Capital Territory
Administration (FCTA) yesterday began the removal of billboards and
posters pasted on public utilities in Abuja.
The
Head of Public Relations of the department, Mr Kalu Ewetu, told the
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the course of the exercise that the
cleaning up was part of efforts by the department to maintain the
aesthetics of federal capital.
He
added that there was a provision in the FCT Act which bares people from
indiscriminate pasting of posters in public places. He expressed the
determination of the department to sustain the operation.
“After
this exercise,” he said, “we will embark on arrest and prosecution of
people who continue to paste such posters. We will trace them through
the addresses on their posters.”
