Wednesday’s
hearing in the suit filed by the suspended Governor of the Central Bank
of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, challenging his suspension by
President Goodluck Jonathan was stalled by the absence of the presiding
judge Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
All parties and counsel were asked to return to court on March 19 after an official informed them that the judge was attending a seminar.
Mr.
Sanusi is seeking a court order that will re-instate him as CBN
Governor. He asked the court to restrain the President, Attorney-General
and their agents from “obstructing, disturbing, stopping or preventing
him in any manner whatsoever, from performing the functions as Governor
of the Central Bank.”
Justice
Kolawole stated earlier that: “I feel hesitant and constrained to grant
the plaintiff’s application because it would be unfair to grant such an
application without affording the respondents a hearing.”
