Abuja Fire Service to Begin Door to Door Campaign

The Federal Fire Service in Abuja is planning on going door to door in order to educate Abuja residents and businesses about correct fire safety procedures.

The Assistant Controller General of the Service, Ademola Jolaosho, said they were embarking on an enlightenment campaign for offices, markets and other business premises to educate people on what precautions to take to limit chances of a fire outbreak.

“As time goes on, we will extend it to homes because what is obtainable in the office is also obtainable in the home. We need to advice people who engage in unsafe practices in their homes, to be careful so as to guard against fire outbreaks,” he said.

Mr Jolaosho also disclosed that the service had instituted an integrated system of fire disaster management and was taking measures to ensure that their fire fighting equipment was in good condition.

He also warned that buildings without emergency exits and other precautionary components will be sealed off and appealed to developers to include fire safety designs in new buildings in the city.
