The
Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) has begun an inspection
of hotels and other tourism enterprises in the Federal Capital
Territory, Abuja and its environs.
The
Director General of NTDC, Mrs. Sally Mbanefo, made this known to
newsmen at weekend in Abuja. She said the exercise, which will
eventually be carried out across the country, was informed by the need
to assess the standards and quality of hospitality outfits in terms of
service delivery.
Mrs.
Mbanefo said the NTDC, as the apex hospitality agency in the country,
is charged with the responsibility of ensuring efficient and effective
services for all tourists, both domestic and foreign.
The
exercise, she added, will avail the federal government the opportunity
to ensure that facilities and operations of hospitality and other
tourism establishments conform to international best standards.
