Nigeria will soon start exporting cars - Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that Nigeria will soon begin to export cars to other countries, as a result of the new National Automotive Industry Policy introduced by his administration.

Speaking yesterday at his Presidential Villa in Abuja during a visit by Anambra State business owners led by the state’s governor, Peter Obi, he added that his administration will continue to encourage industrialists in the country.

“In the next few years, Nigeria will begin to export cars to other countries. We are encouraging the government to support local manufacturers. If Nigeria must be a great country, we must industrialise,” he said.

In agreement, Governor Obi said, "You have excess credit in your political account that these people (members of the delegation) are ready to pay you when you need it.”

The governor also thanked the President for including Nnewi in the government’s National Automotive Industry Policy, stating that it would attract many ancillary industries.
