The
Federal Executive Council has approved the sum of N28.11bn for the
provision of engineering infrastructure in Wasa, a new district in the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The
minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, and the Minister of State,
FCT, Mrs. Olajumoke Akinjide, made this known to newsmen on Wednesday at
the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting.
“After
deliberations,” Mrs. Akinjide said, “council approved the award of the
contract for the provision of engineering infrastructure to Wasa
Affordable Housing Site in favour of Messrs Gilmor Engineering Nigeria
Limited in the sum of N28,117,904,027 only, with a completion period of
48 months.”
The
contract, she added, covers areas such as site clearing, road works,
culvert, drainage, sewage, water supply, electrical power supply and
street lighting for the 367 hectares of land.
She
said that the project upon completion will generate employment for at
least 30 professionals, 50 technicians and 100 unskilled labourers.
