FG Approves N28bn for Wasa District Development

The Federal Executive Council has approved the sum of N28.11bn for the provision of engineering infrastructure in Wasa, a new district in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, and the Minister of State, FCT, Mrs. Olajumoke Akinjide, made this known to newsmen on Wednesday at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting.

“After deliberations,” Mrs. Akinjide said, “council approved the award of the contract for the provision of engineering infrastructure to Wasa Affordable Housing Site in favour of Messrs Gilmor Engineering Nigeria Limited in the sum of N28,117,904,027 only, with a completion period of 48 months.”

The contract, she added, covers areas such as site clearing, road works, culvert, drainage, sewage, water supply, electrical power supply and street lighting for the 367 hectares of land.

She said that the project upon completion will generate employment for at least 30 professionals, 50 technicians and 100 unskilled labourers.
