The Executive
Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Julius Okojie
has described the poor reading habits of Nigerians as embarrassing.
Speaking at the
presentation of Dr. Funmi Adesanya-Davies’ book ‘The Jonathan/Sambo Presidency
in Nigeria; A symbol of Peace, Unity and Progress to Nigerian universities’ on Wednesday
in Abuja, he said the NUC will continue to encourage the country to read more,
especially the university community, and added that it was imperative for
Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunities to improve themselves,
especially in the area of education.
The book will be
circulated to universities in the country, as the NUC believes it is worthy of
introduction to the public, would be circulated to universities in the country.
The book’s author
Adesanya-Davies said she was inspired to write the book to describe how the
Jonathan/Sambo administration has being a symbol of peace, unity and progress.
