Metropole’s Writing Competition Winners Collect their prizes

Budding writers from across Nigeria sent in their entries for Metropole magazine’s writing competition, which encouraged people to write about Abuja and win a prize.
The competition closed last month and three winners and a runner up were selected for their honest views of the capital city.
The first prize went to Collins Uma, whose humorous ‘Where’s my Kubwa’ is an intimate portrait of the transformation of his former residence in Kubwa. The second prize went to Okpanachi Ichapi for ‘Abuja: Through my Eyes’ which detailed his first visit to the city, and Dimaka Onyebushi won the third prize for his article about Abuja’s inception, successes and ills.
The runner up was Onyeka Nwigwe whose ‘Planning the Master Plan’ related the history and current status of the FCT.
All the winners collected their prizes at Metropole's officesin Abuja, which included copies each of a book written by the former spokesman to the late President Musa Yar’Adua, Olusegun Adeniyi’s Power, Politics and Death, gift vouchers and current and past copies of our magazine.
The winning articles will be published on our website this week.
