Grand Towers Hotel Offers Discount and Plush Offerings

Grand Towers Hotel, the newest five star boutique hotel which opened in Abuja last April, is offering discount rates for a stay in one of its exquisite rooms this January to attract and retain an up-market clientele.

The first in a new line of hotel chains that will be springing up around Nigeria soon (another one is currently under construction in Ado Ekiti), Grand Towers Hotel promises a world-class experience in hospitality and fine dining.

“We’re trying to establish a true five-star boutique hotel experience,” says Mr. Sander Willemsen, the hotel’s Managing Director.
“Our focus is on a high standard of culinary and service levels, and achieving a fine dining culture, which you hardly find in West African countries.”

With rates starting at over N30, 000 for a room, the hotel is targeted at elite guest seeking luxury in the city, but with an introductory rate of 45% discount on rooms – N16, 500 per night – until the end of January, the hotel also hopes to open up its plush facilities to a wider audience.

The boutique hotel is situated in the heart of the rapidly-developing Katampe District with 31 luxury rooms – including two diplomatic suites and a presidential suite – and each room comes with satellite TV, a safe, a fully-stocked fridge and bar, tea and coffee and free wireless internet access, with 24-hour room service, complimentary bathrobe and slippers and various shower products also on hand to make your stay comfortable.

There is also the tastefully-designed conference rooms and banquet hall, a fully-equipped gym and three high-class restaurants serving Nigerian, Ivorian, Ghanaian and International dishes, with the highly-acclaimed Grand View Restaurant on the third floor boasting a 360 degree view of the Abuja skyline.

“Part of a boutique hotel experience is the feeling of pampering when you’re in the hotel, which is down to service standards as well as quality facilities; so there’s a spa, massages and a swimming pool as a minimum,” says Mr. Willemson.

What makes this hotel unique, according to the Managing Director, is the privacy it offers its high-profile guests, something they don’t often receive in the international chain hotels in the city. At Grand Towers, guests can spend the duration of their stay unexposed in the relative peace of the Katampe location, knowing that the city centre is only minutes away.

As well as a pillow menu (from feather to anti-allergic, orthopaedic and polyester) to ensure a good night’s sleep, another aspect of the hotel’s distinct service is the thoughtful assistance you receive after booking. Two days before arrival you get an email or text message indicating the weather forecast during your stay in Abuja, route descriptions from the airport to the hotel, a personal contact at the hotel with a direct line for enquiries, and information on the events going on at the hotel for the duration of your stay.

And the moment a guest walks out of the door, they receive an email thanking them for their stay and asking for feedback in order to improve their stay the next time they come.
“We’re always looking for the wow factor and offering things that people are not expecting, because that’s what people remember. They might not recall the room or the food, but the friendliness and skills of the staff is what they remember,” adds Mr. Willemson.

Owned by the company behind the Grand Towers Mall in Apo which houses Shoprite and other stores, Grand Towers Plc is looking to tie in its enterprises in Abuja and is currently working on a loyalty and rewards system, where its regular hotel guests can accumulate points they can later exchange for goods and services at the Mall.

Following a publicity blitz by the management which included social media and newspaper advertising and jingles on the nearby Aso Radio, most of the rooms have already being reserved for February, and although walk-ins are welcome, guests are encouraged to book ahead.

“With a small hotel like this you need to establish a reputation so that it becomes like a status symbol,” says Mr. Willemson.
